Válogatás az Azerbajdzsáni Nemzeti Szőnyegmúzeum gyűjteményéből

A Néprajzi Múzeum 2026 nyarán az Azerbajdzsáni Nemzeti Szőnyegmúzeummal együttműködésben mutatja be az Azerbajdzsáni szőnyegek című vendégkiállítást. A tárlat az azerbajdzsáni szőnyegművészet gazdag örökségét és annak kortárs továbbélését tárja a közönség elé.
A kiállítás különleges válogatást mutat be a 17–20. századi történeti szőnyegekből, tradicionális textilekből, viseletekből és ékszerekből, valamint kortárs alkotásokból. A látogatók megismerhetik Karabah, Sirván, Baku és más történeti régiók jellegzetes szőnyegkultúráját, a híres buta- és virágmotívumokat, valamint az azerbajdzsáni kézművesség kiemelkedő mestereinek munkáit. A tárlaton helyet kapnak Latif Karimov legendás szőnyegtervei és kortárs művészek – többek között Eldar Mikayılzadə, Çingiz Babayev és Medina – alkotásai is.
A kiállítás egyik fő kérdése, miként él tovább a hagyományos ornamentika és szimbolika a kortárs művészetben. A történeti szőnyegek mellett megjelenő modern képzőművészeti alkotások új nézőpontból mutatják meg az azerbajdzsáni vizuális kultúra időtállóságát és folyamatos megújulását. A látványos installációk és monumentális szőnyegek mellett digitális tartalmak és kortárs művek is gazdagítják az élményt.
A tárlat az Azerbajdzsáni Nemzeti Szőnyegmúzeum gyűjteményének kiemelkedő darabjait hozza Budapestre, betekintést nyújtva a Kaukázus egyik legjelentősebb kulturális hagyományába.

In the summer of 2026, The Museum of Ethnography, The Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum with the support of the global .ART domain registry, are honoured to present the exhibition Azerbaijani Carpets – From Tradition to Contemporary Art.
The exhibition features a remarkable selection of historical carpets from the 17th to the 20th centuries, alongside traditional textiles, costumes, jewellery, carpet sketches and contemporary artworks. Visitors will discover the distinctive carpet traditions of Karabakh, Shirvan, Baku and other historic regions, renowned for their intricate floral and geometrical motifs and exceptional craftsmanship. The exhibition also includes works and carpet sketches by the celebrated artists Latif Karimov and Eldar Mikayilzada, as well as present-day artistic practices by Chingiz Babayev. A special focus within the exhibition is given to the works by multidisciplinary artist Medina Kasimova, whose practice operates at the intersection of material, memory and visual structure.
One of the exhibition’s central themes is the transformation of traditional ornamental language into modern artistic expression. Historical carpets are presented together with modern artworks and immersive exhibition design, highlighting the enduring visual power and cultural significance of Azerbaijani textile traditions. Monumental carpets, contemporary paintings and digital installations together create a dialogue between past and present.
The exhibition brings outstanding samples to Budapest, offering insight into one of the most important artistic traditions of Azerbaijan.
